Moving 7/14/2006 2:22:06 PM
We've been moving... not done yet, didn't have time to get (most of) our stuff, need at least two days to accomplish that, but we feel alright, no complaints and the move was not as bad as our little story below :)
Moving – A Pain in the Neck
Moving is a pain in the neck, and everywhere else. Weeks ahead we started packing boxes, labeled them and stacked them, nice and neat, ordered according to size and room, etc. And that was exactly what started all the troubles. Whenever something could not be found right away, off we went to the boxes, opened them, disregarding the labeling, went through the content and put them, well, wherever they might fit. Of course, I, the real head of the house as the mother, had no clue. I trusted my family to look for things they need within the part of the apartment that was not packed up yet, after all, we only packed up things we did not need. Who would think to look for a school book in between the box labeled "Winter cloths"? No one, right. Somehow someone did, as well as go through pretty much every other box, mix up the contend of all the boxes and stack them wildly out of order. As soon as I caught on to it, I did my best to undo the damage and made it clear, very loud, so I would be heard over the TV, that those boxes are not to be touched, ever again! Somehow, someway there must have been a misconception, because it appears that nobody heard me. By time we started to load boxes onto our truck, everything was well mixed up and out of order. No sweat, its not that many boxes, really, so I thought, until it was time to ad the freshly packed boxes and then find what we need most. Like, the bathroom tissue, remote controls, pots and pans, glasses, towels, etc.. Right then I found out that we were working on a disaster. I could not find anything, at least nothing that I needed. I found tons of useless stuff, even junk that was supposed to be thrown out, but invisible hands had quickly hidden it in boxes. I did the one thing every reasonable person would do, I sat on top of countless boxes and cried. Not that anybody cared though. Then I did the next reasonable thing, I went to the store to buy what we urgently needed, and since I was there a few things we really didn’t need at all, but nobody was there to stop me and nobody was there to tell on me.
Ha! Got them back, the whole family!
Well, that’s it for now, got to hide my shopping bags… More next time.
