Seizures---yes, they can be fatal. It is a fact not talked about often. Even epilepsy organizations seem reluctant to discuss that some seizure disorders and forms of epilepsy can be devastating and/or fatal. I used to think that my book would be too scary for parents of a newly diagnosed child with epilepsy. Now I am re-thinking that. It's importatnt for people to know epilepsy can be anywhere on a continuum ranging from having very little impact upon everday life providing medication or other treatment is effective, to having enormous negative impact interfering with performing daily activities, to catastrophic results. Each situation is different.
