Sometimes I can anticipate a seizure a day ahead of its occurrence. All day yesterday I was anticipating something, so the early morning wake-up seizure this morning came as no surprise. Michael was pretty much "off" all day yesterday. He stopped studying mid-morning, was exceptionally grumpy when I suggested that perhaps he'd bring up his Marine Biology grade if he put more effort into it (studying). He pretty much continued to be surly, answered questions in a bored, disinterested way, and in general was not all that pleasant to be around.So....when I heard the dreaded guttural sound coming from his room at 7AM today, I flew down the hallway and knew quite well he'd be in the throes of a tonic seizure. It only lasted about a minute and a half---at least what I observed lasted that long. Once it ended, a few minutes of heavy breathing, then a more peaceful sleep. Yesterday he was "off" because of the impending brainstorm, I guess. Today, because of the seizure. Tomorrow, we'll return to our own brand of "normal"-nothing pending, no seizure, just a bunch of meds and lots of wishing that this one was the last.That's the thing about seizures; they take minutes, hours and days from lives but they can't extinguish hope. Not ever!
