Thanks for holding me accountable by emailing me.  Here's a little insight about my writing environment. . . For me, getting ready to write is as important as getting ready to do anything. First I need the world to close down. Eighty percent of my writing is done throughout the night. That way I eliminate distractions. I get comfy in shorts and big ole shirt . . . My room has a desk and big comfy chair . . . One wall has sliding doors with shutters that are closed when I start... I lean back in my chair and relax for about 15 minutes,then I'm ready to dive in.

Generally I'll write for hours (4-8), but some times I go for days with only necessary bathroon stops and food grabs. On the rare occasion, when I'm really moved by my own creation, I'm compelled to indulge in some form of immediate gratification. Some times chocolate, or I'll open the shutter doors, put on soft piano music (Emile Pandolphi), go out and dive into the pool or sit in the Jacuzzi. Although I have never smoked a cigarette in my life, on a very rare occasion I'll sit by the  pool and puff on a Davidoff Zino Grand Classic cigar while I sip a little brandy. I love to gently craft the smoke with my fingers while I ponder where I'm going with my writing. It's those middle of the night outdoor experiences that are the most inspiring.
