Yesterday I chronicled the disastrous week I had at work, admitting that I was throwing myself a bit of a pity party.  What I said, I stand by--especially the fact that the largest problem public school teachers face are parents who, for one reason or another, are a death knell to their own children's success.

But today, I watched 10 Kinder kids (including one of my granddaughters) play  the funniest game of basketball you'll ever see.

I prayed for my ex-student who has just had brain surgery for a malignant tumor.

I realized that the opposing coach in the aforementioned basketball team -- that married man who's wife graduated with my youngest daughter--was also a first grade student of mine.  (Dear Lord, thank you for letting me get old enough to have a married student coaching five year olds!  I think.)

Perspective, reality--we deal with our lives as we see them.  If I felt yesterday I got less sympathy than Kim Kardashian after ending her 72 days of wedded bliss--well, poor me. 

Today I was the loudest, silliest, happiest grandmother at a 5 year old's basketball game.

Life's good.
