When I started the whole process of having my first book published, I prayed for guidence. I didn't pray for success, just guidence. I wanted to know if what I was doing was going to praise Him.
The idea of praying for things just because you want them is not really the idea here. We pray for our families, our country, the soilders who fight for us and those who need help because of illness. These types of prayers are the ones that God answers.
Prayer is not supposed to be for doing well on a test you didnt study for. "Oh, God, please help me do well on this test." I don't believe He will, with some type of miracle, put the answers in your head, especially if you never studied. It just doesn't work that way.
God answers prayers, yes He does, but it may not always be the answer that WE want. Sometimes the answer is no, sometimes yes and sometimes it's "not right now".
My prayers to God about my works and if they will be successful are not to line my pockets with money or to be able to buy things with whatever profits may come my way. My prayer is that no matter what, He is glorified and others will see Him through me or my works.
Before I start each book, during the writing of the book and everything that comes afer I pray that His will is done. That may sound corny to you or contrived, but I promise you that is how I feel.
God has given us talents to use in this life to help others, whether it is family, friends or complete strangers. How we use those talents is up to us, but we are only blessed when we use those talents to show His greatness.
God has blessed me by opening doors that have been closed for a long time. When I reflect on that, I realize that even though those doors had been closed for so long, they are opened now because He knew when they needed to be opened. "Not right now W.C., not right now". Then when He knew it was the right time it was, "The doors are open now W.C., how you walk through is up to you."
If you have purchased my first book I want you to know that I promise that all of my future works will be to His glory and not mine. I am just an instrument of His, a tool for good and like all tools, it can be used for good or bad.
So when you pray for things and they dont happen as quickly as you want them, remember that the He will use His tools at the right time to build a door that leads others to Him.
