THE BATHROOM WALL

I visited a bathroom the other day. It was a half bath and was located in a church where my husband and I had been invited to minister. The bathroom was well kept and I was able to take care of my personal business with ease. On the way out of the bathroom I noticed a sign that had been placed on the wall in a beautiful picture frame. The sign read: Dear Lord give me
The Patience to Listen - The Courage to Speak - The Honor to Follow - The Wisdom to Lead. Underneath the short phrases there was a scripture. It read:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Philippians 4:13.
I thought to myself, what an interesting saying to have in a bathroom. After all bathrooms have a specific purpose. They come in all shapes and sizes. For an example, there is what I call the Powder Room. The only thing that this bathroom is worth is to wash your hands or check out how you powder your face. Normally there is a mirror, a sink, decorative wallpaper and nice floors. Then you have what most people commonly referred to as the Half-Bath. Half because you only have half of what you really need in a bathroom. In a Half Bath you can expect to see a sink, and a toilet. This type of bathroom will let you take care of most of your bodily essentials. However, you have to take care of them with limited ease. The old folk use to say that’s where whores took their baths (wash all their body parts thoroughly in the sink). The final type of bathroom I'll mention is a Full Bath bathroom. It is a full service bath room because it offers you the user the option of taking a bath or shower in extreme comfort.
In short bath rooms can play a very important part in our lives. We use them to take care of our personal needs or the needs of others. (i.e. babies, toddlers, the elderly, or cripple)
When we go to the bathroom:
1. We use the mirror to reflect on who we are or who we want to be.
2. We use the lock on the bathroom door to keep others from viewing our most intimate parts and if the bathroom is well stocked from smelling our most undesirable releases.
3. We make sure that our bathrooms are stocked with the necessary creams, paste, soaps, make ups, meds and artificial improvements (i.e. fake eye lashes, wigs, weave, toupees, teeth etc.)
4. We discard by flushing away or running down the drains everything that is not useful to us.
5. Once satisfied - we take one last glance in the mirror, and open the door to boldly present the new and refreshed image of what we want the world and our significant others to see.
Then it hit me. We sometimes put more emphasis on what we look and smell like by way of a bathroom than we do to make sure the inside of our lives emanates the refreshing spirit of a living God’s presence within us. The question then becomes if I really want a man that will love and value me for who I am and not just for what appears on the outside what should I be doing?
To make sure you are capturing the interest of someone you can keep for life try taking some tips from that bathroom wall.
1. Use the mirror of God’s word to see your true reflection in the light of what He says you should be and who you really are.
2. Only give the keys to your heart to the Lord. He will show you if and when you need to unlock the doors which will reveal your most intimate thoughts and private parts to a man.
3. Flush away any negative experiences which keep you bound to an unproductive past and away from a bright future.
Finally ask God to give you the patience to listen to Him, the courage to speak what He says, the honor to follow HIM and the man he puts as the leader in your home, and the wisdom to lead or teach others to do the same.
