Life goes on...
I shall never forget my dear husband. However, the world keeps turning and I, being alive still, must move with it. At the week-end I summoned enough courage to return to my writing. I completed the writing of my current book in early December last.
Now I must work on the revision and the editing because the deadline for presenting the finished manuscript to my publishers, Severn House Publishing Limited is the end of February 2008.
A month has gone by since I looked at the book. I had really forgotten exactly what I had written. Now I read through, starting of course on chapter one.
On Sunday I managed to work through six chapters. It is rather tiring work since one must examine each word. Monday I completed the revision of another seven chapters -this took most of the day. I felt quite cheerful when I decided to call time. I feel the book is shaping up well.
I have another twelve chapters to edit and revise. I have no idea if there are snags and problems awaiting me as I scrutinise each page. I hope not. Alterations have been compatively minor so far. Although I am aware that I have missed out on an important scene which I will have to write before I advance further into the manuscript. There could be other omissions. We'll see. This is the purpose of editing and revising.
I believe the remaining twelve chapters will take another week to read through thoroughly. Then comes the task of transferring the alterations to the computer and another print out and another read through the book. This process will be repeated quite a few times I suspect until I am satisfied I have done the very best I can.
When I have finished the work completely and the manuscript is sent off to my publishers I will breath a sigh of relief.
And then I will start thinking about a new idea for the next book. And so it begins all over again...
What is the new book about?
The main story takes place in Swansea in 1931. A bitter feud has broken out in the Prosser family over the last will and testament of the family matriarch, Rose Prosser.
Siblings are at loggerheads with each other over the ownership of the family business, while young cousins Gillian and Dorothy fall head over heels for the same man, Ronnie Knox, and come to a fierce clash over who will get him.
Everyone has secrets to hide - from forbidden friendships to robbery with violence and a secret illegitimate child.
There is conflict and heartache aplenty.
