I have never self published. It may not come down to that, but then again, it is also very possible. The idea is frightening for several reasons. Please read below. I'd love your to hear from you.
I am in a bit of "quandary". I will receive my first royalty check for FILL MY EYES. I have a rather "rough" guess (which is probably way off) of what I have sold. If it is high enough I can go with a fairly major publisher. It has been a struggle with them, so I finally told them to wait. Now if I am wrong, which is very possible, I will go with Lulu. But two things scare the living crap out of me: formatting it into a book, and adding to one of their generic cover designs (do they offer pictures?). I would like to hear some feedback on your experiences with Lulu. I have heard rumors their shipping rates are outrageous and slow (that is one rumor of several). So for those in the know, please share your experience with me. I have a feeling I will be self publishing for the first time and the thought of having to put the whole package together myself is a bit daunting! Thank you friends. You "Den" members are the best. I have found much kindness and I believe we have some of the most talented and creative people on one site. Wake up Random House and all you other big hotshots!
