I am in the final stages of preparing a new travel book for publication, entitled Distant Islands and Sealight. With that in mind, I have posted several travel articles under "Stories" or "Articles" which will be a part of the new collection. One of these, entitled "Waiting for Elephants", recently posted on AuthorsDen, recounts the journey I took last winter, treking through the highlands of Sri Lanka. A second article, entitled "Song of the Hinge" recounts the sad tale of a long lost friend who I knew many years ago while I was working in Saudi Arabia. Through the marvels of the modern-day internet, I was able to re-establish contact with the family of this friend, named Durson, only to learn that he had suffered a severe stroke over ten years ago. This newly posted story, which will also be in the new travel collection, recounts my final visit to Durson and his family before he died this past year.
