I have never forgotten you,
you
my first love.

Nor have I forgotten those handful
of loves
that came after you,
all three of them
(sometimes four, depending
on my mood when memory
stretches its melancholy wings),
leading to my final love
who sleeps beside me now,
our wedding rings alive
and bright
on our beside lockers.

I remember everything.
I remember first
and last kisses,
first and final words,
first times,
last times that were only realised last
after the fact.

I remember eye colours
and phone numbers,
birthdays, anniversaries, favourite movies/
foods/writers/actors/singers/bands/books.

I remember conversations
and arguments, birthmarks and scars.

I remember, I
remember....

I remember everything.
I remember everyone.

I sleep very little.

I sleep so
very
little.

This thing named me,
And there is work to do here
Is why I want to believe
And just that. I must challenge the way, however, beware
Any more,
and to watch out
For being here, for I cannot stop,
as I could
As my time in a weak soul
Can gasp the void of perpetually.
