I normally dont write much about the war, but this has been on my mind.
Uncertain Wonders
The guns are locked and loaded,
Troops are dug into the ground.
It appears that in the world,
Another tyrant needs brought down.
The men await their orders,
Their all, prepared to give.
But the wars already started,
Among the people where we live.
Americans fight with one another,
Are we right or are we wrong?
That we should learn to mind our business,
And stay home where we belong.
But I wonder just what we would think,
If the truth we really knew?
What goes on beyond that border?
If they were free to share their views
Would they gladly face the danger,
If war will set them free?
Do the benefits outweigh the cost,
If free they all can be?
What will the people have to say?
When freely they can speak.
Will they be relieved to see us?
Or will they spit upon our cheek?
Will their words be bitter toward us?
“Go back home where you belong!”
Or haunting words echoed from Auschwitz
“What took you guys so long?”

I can certainly relate to your thoughts here.. And I often think of our troops. Whether we agree with the war or not, I can still remember the treatment our "Nam vet receieved and to do so again toa whole new generation of men and women would be a tragedy in and of itself. Not to mentio the losses this "war" could lead to. On all sides.. *sigh* as you can tell, this weighs heavy on my heart tonight.
Just me.

I just hate war! This is a very good write. So clear on the message. Thanks, Teresa
Jack...this poem just so touching and beautiful, that last stanza:
Will their words be bitter toward us?
“Go back home where you belong!”
Or haunting words echoed from Auschwitz
“What took you guys so long?”
This just haunts me so...

Jack.....we write about what is in our hearts and minds....By writing we deal and heal of all manner of things....A truly fantastic poem, that last stanza....is so true!....Ty, Dani
The Bible says there will always be wars and rumors of war. I guess it's nothing new and when one considers the world is over populated how can we achieve world peace? I feel that the leader of the country may not always be right but when the has a majority vote it is our duty to back him and to pray for him. I doubt that anyone knows the whole truth but I am really thankful that I don't live under a complete dictatorship.

Yes...the shades are drawn on this war and the truth is in some mens minds. We will relaize reason and cost simultaniously I'm afraid but freedom is a higher price to pay.
Love your poem.
Peace and love,
Susan
Yes Jack you did this very well my friend....who am I to judge......
If some one hurts me I will turn the other cheek...after that there are no limits in what I might want to do...maybe gladly face the danger i think

Man you brought a mist to my eyes. Thank you and God bless you.
In a post-coup America, an Illinois farm boy is drawn into the resistance by his brother's death. Captured, he is given a choice: betray his friends, or the girl he loves will be lobotomized.
South Baltimore serves as the backdrop for this gripping story of three brothers leading very different lives but joined forever by the secrets of a painful family past.
A homonymless man writes shows what it's like to look up the laid he skirts when you’re lying prone(d) to the sidewalk, beer / joint / needle dangling from your hand /lips / arm.
Just me.

You have struck the nail on the head,
If Hitler was not stopped, "Would we be speaking German?"
an excellent write....With a Golden Pen.
