Little eyes crying little tears.
Tiny heart full of great big fears.
A smile, a laugh, just the slightest emotion,
feelings now that were never shown.
I sit alone and watch her play,
wishing that this time she would stay.
My heart longs to hold her near
as she grows older every year.
Little eyes look up at me,
searching for answers she can’t possibly see.
Little tears, they’re all dry,
there aren’t any left for her to cry.
A smile, a frown, tender emotion,
so much fear now is shown.
Little fingers clasped tightly in my hand,
there will never be time to help her understand.
I know there were reasons that she couldn’t stay,
but it broke my heart when they took her away.
