Have you ever felt caught in the middle?
Of going forward to follow a dream
Or hanging on to a past that makes you scream
One foot on today and one foot on tomorrow
Have you ever felt pressure at work?
To do your damnest to make things right
But only knowing that your efforts are slight
Because it really doesn’t matter to them
Have you ever held a crying child?
Trying to sooth their sorrowful tears of pain
Only to know that they’ll come back again
For it’s not just skinned knees that hurt
Have you ever passed a person in need?
Feeling that tinge to stop and assist
But going on by fighting a feeling to resist
Thinking who stopped to help you back when…
Have you ever loved and lost?
Giving of yourself so freely
Emotions that run so deeply
To have not seen the truth
Onward through the fog...
You have really well expressed the conflict.
There is a 'perpetual victim' syndrome, so it takes the development of good judgement.

Always!! I keep trying to find the balance, sometimes it is just not there, so we have to keep moving, until it appears! So true is this poem!
Hugs,
Maria
