The Scale

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

Long have I wandered
the corridors of my life
Long have I wondered
if my actions have been right

As I tread this path anew
with hope as fresh as morning dew
I carry a load that sits resting on my shoulder
it weighs as heavy as a concrete boulder

Should my actions and hopes be weighed on a scale
there's no doubt wich will drop and wich will sail
Does that make me a miner or a seahorse
simple
the choice is mine of course

"The Scale" knows the weights and their measure and it will exact judgment unmercifully. Short, precise and delivered with precision Elisabeth. A very interesting read my dear friend. Love and peace to you. Jon Michael

I enjoyed your questioning, Elisabeth, the probe of self, the search for balance, the weight we carry and the choices we all must make.

I like the metaphors here Elisabeth. Hope you can deposit that load you're carrying somewhere soon.

Peace,
Dayvid

Choices. Choices. Choices. therein lies the secret of life lived to the fullest, how we make and keep our choices. Even a bad choice can be made palpable by the next choice you make.
