Poorly Disguised Arms

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

Thursday, December 9, 2010

What tricks have been taught
and brought from yonder horizons?
Those everchanging winds
and harsh thunderous voices.

To wild for the maker to tame
to void of empathy and shame.
But is this so?

Perhaps the story is different
from what it seems,
perhaps it's been reared by
shrieks and screams,
and dead objects crashing
onto cold surfaces.

Manipulative, everchanging
seasons,
shifts that lack of reason.

To many confusing,
illogical, tale telling, thousand and one nights.
Where Sheherazade sold her charms,
poorly disguised arms.

For what?

Perhaps her story was the same.
And yet the wild wind roars
and ravages,
reac havoc with the innocent minds.

manipulative indeed...and the words here manipulate
a profound essence of truths deeply prodding...

There is moral and message here, Elisabeth, but so well delivered it neither preaches nor lectures...the points are made subtly and strong.

A profound poem, showing the many ways the deceitful foist their guile and confusion on others ...

My word, of course it'll reck havoc on the innocents.
So much is manipulated, via any media at hand.
