Sorrow

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

Sorrow cripple my breath
Restricting my chest
All these tears
they
are just barely falling
Calling to my heart
 that is
painfully beating
Death it is
cheating today.

It seems impossible
to go on from here
'cause where would
we go?
When  you are no
longer there?
Nothing about this
is even remotely fair.

I hope that where
you go when you
draw your last
breath,
is a place free from
agony.
A place of endless
peace,
where all of your
suffering will
cease.

We love you more
than words can say.
Sail on into evermore
sail on into myth and lore.
We will join you there
someday then together
we will always stay.

Wow. What a great poem! I like the way you rhymed words with a rhythm more like singing. Very nice! I liked your poem very much.

The title was perfect, it made me feel exactly that way. With a little bit of hope at the end.

It would be hard to measure the importance of life without a little sorrow. But we should try to find something joyful in everyday. Great poem Elisabeth.

Sorrow is difficult to understand much less to bear, yet bear it we sometimes must, as you have eloquently done in this melancholy poem.
