Heart and mind

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

Thursday, March 30, 2023

Heart and mind in agreement,
releasing joint statement.
On this day we are at peace,
bicker overwon, burdon released.

So make your way forward in haste,
tomorrow is another day to chase,
errant thoughts that may sway
the opinion we have today.

We are in ourselfs philosophers
with different views to offer.
To combine the two is a chore
that will never cease, we're sure.

With years that pass we learn more
to make cease fire in this constant war.
Moving swift, practice makes perfect,
decisionmaking now more direct.

When we are called upon to negotiate,
writing down our thoughts always help.
This is why we seem a little indecisive
it's all part of the process to forgive
and reach common ground
without making a sound.
