This was done in response to a picture challenge. I won't post the picture for copyright reasons. If you need the picture, I haven't done my job.
Lady of the Mist
It is here, where we found her,
that my life ended.
Yet I find her still, alive,
in the mists of her demise,
the cool waters soothing to
my tortured soul.
They say that one should
never ask why ...
but I do, every day.
If there is an answer, it is
lost in the roar of the waters.
SAYING GOODBYE TO A GOOD FRIEND IS HARD TO DO, ESPECIALLY ONE THAT HAS CARRIED YOU SAFELY MANY TIMES OVER ROUGH SEAS. WRITTEN WELL WITH GREAT IMAGERY. THANKS FOR SHARING AND BLESSINGS. JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
I think you have done MORE than your job, Dallas. No, we need no pictorial help with this poem if you are willing for interpretation to be very much with the reader - in terms of the manifold perceptions you offer us here. This could be a very real, human tragedy or it could be a mystical, almost Siren-attachment to the enchantment of Niagara (for example). It could also be a metaphor for a doomed love-affair. So many possibilities, as befits the role of both writer and poem. I love that you have left out as much as you put in, in terms of putting flesh on the bones of this piece. This contributes to its appeal and its fascination. Intriguing, thank you. Kate xx
