I was blessed, while recovering from an illness, to have my puppy brigade wait along with me.
The five of us here day after day
Although they don't converse, they run and play
I am thankful and wistful as I watch them jump
Wondering how I can find a way off this slump
There's a blond, redhead and two brunettes
They watch over me while running, rolling and spinning around
I am blessed to have them as my friends
Others all around are living, enjoying and pursuing life
While I hide, feeling each tiny part dying inside
A few seek advice from the one I used to be
I am able to retrieve and be the old me
My memories as an immigrant professional woman in Ottawa, Canada 47 years ago. A new life after having survived the liberal war of a new country Bangladesh on December 16, 1971.
