On death.

Ice on the bone

Deny it not

Sunrise mired in serpent’s venom

Waiting for the pulse

To stop

Your lucid eyes mark the next target

Twilight’s revenge

In broad daylight

Giving no quarter

Taking none

The moon gasps in full retreat

A sliver

Then darkness

As the ice reclaims its dew

I hope Mr. Death appreciates your icy touch with the pen, cold is really not, unless you feel it, life is what among joy also brings pain, unlike death, which takes all pain away that is physical, a loving touch indeed. He is indeed a sweet dark angel feared wrongly, what should be feared, is as always fear itself. Most of us project our guilty thoughts into the future, and thread with anticipation the so called afterlife, others have a false sense of happiness, in their secure belief that as angels on this planet their afterline, is what they look forward to. The icy dew, that you so well describe, though will nourish new life and be part of it, as life returning to life. Blessings! Jasmin Horst

In my younger years I would have seen "death" the way you describe it here. But I no longer fear my transition to the next place. Well done, Patrick.

Cold and stiff, perhaps the kind of ice the Devil wants in his drink!
