Tundra's Song

I spent 3 winters in Alaska. Dayvid Gray's recent posting jogged a memory of sorts.

Purple Haze…..ice fog back lit by an all day sundown

Prudhoe Bay’s Hendrix breath at 67 below

The strings resonate but cannot be heard

Lumberjacks laughing at the scrawny trees

Sink their ax into their thighs

Only to find frozen blood

No accident

Their own septic long ago

Preserved

For what it’s worth

Midnight when I landed, midnight still midday, deeply frozen was the bay, northern lights they danced, 62 below romanced, a cool day, but not cold, that's what I was told.
58, Frobisher Bay north of 63, a few miles from the pole, I can relate Patrick, good one! Jasmin Horst

And their spit freezes before hitting the ground. There are no trees in Prudhoe Bay. Sounds like some leftover LSD flashback. ;-)

My days in Alaska, were down in Ketchikan, less snow, more rain, great Halibut, no trees (0r limbs) cut and great Halibut.

Cheers,
Dan

Hello Patrick,
In the scribblings a voice sometimes speaks out. You've got one that's unique and clear. With my own Alaska winters behind me, I really liked the line about arctic fog.

I didn't spend three winters in Alaska, but I've gone there several times, and it truly is a different world in the tundra.
