Life calls it childhoood

so let me erase the pain

what happened back then

has all been erased.

In fact I can

rewrite every line

tell you I was so happy

everything was just fine,

the days were long

the fun and smiles endless

my childhood was blessed

minus the rest.

No that was not a tear

just me wiping away an ink smear

you see it was passing

like a train passing through

when you are kid

what can you do.

I had everything

all a child could wish

just it was not in order

kind of displaced,

yes I guess

sometimes misplaced

lost you might say

but it really was there

somewhere

of that I am sure.

So I am able to smile

if I stand on my head

best to appear a Clown

as I fill in the gaps

rather than adorn

an absurd frown.

So ding dong to history

mine is in my head

all about

what might have been

not what was never there,

who wants to recall

what is best buried

dead

so I fill in the gaps

with a smile here and there

instead.
