Outside, hope dawns with the first buds of spring
Nature unveils her bridal train of pastel beauty
As the last snowflakes melt, winter swept away
Woodland birds twitter brightly in dew lit trees
The radiant sun blooms like a giant daffodil
As wispy clouds float in cornflower skies
Inside, thorns like barbed wire torture my eyes
Cold blood and a hot salty tear embrace
I wish I could wash the melancholy away
And peel off torn skin to emerge as a butterfly
My ghostly soul vaporised along with winter’s rain
Dreams like shrivelled leaves lay rotting on the floor.
