DEDICATION SUNDAY

On Sunday, May 15th my church set this 'special sunday' aside as 'Dedication Sunday'. I only wish I had understood years ago...what this presentation really meant. However, I am glad that I now know what it means. It means that one acknowledges... their children really do not belong to them...rather, they are a 'gift', on loan, from God. A gift to rear up in the nurture and admonition of God. One's 'self sufficient' pride is tossed aside when one declares, before God and man, that they are incapable of shaping and molding God's offspring, as He would have them shaped and molded. It is a blessing to realize the 'necessity' of prayer for God's guidance, not only for our little ones, but for ourselves also...and not only for a day...but forever.

Poem Artwork

Here...Dear God...here...take these tiny lives...so pure

we humbly admit...we cannot do this alone

You know these little ones so much better than we...sure

For You counted their hairs...and shaped their bones

It is on this Sunday Morn...which You saw so long ago

we bring our treasured ones...the names You already know

Presenting to You...Your prescious 'gifts'

which You, O Master...have blessed us with

Amidst the demands of parenthood...when difficulties soar

You'll be our source...and so much more

When our child's cry...surge life's present clamor

Your wisdom...will be our banner

You, will show us...how...to raise Your child

You, will teach us...how...to wear Your smile

And when our 'all' seems...too much to do...

You'll  instruct us how...to depend on You

Your presence...so calm...will take us thru life's maulings

as You guide us...in this...Your calling...

Your peace will reside ...within our very souls

if we but take Your hand...and hold

Thus, obeying  Holy Scriptures...before You we stand

here in Your temple...we surrender to You

Bearing...our tender seedlings in our hands

forever needing...Your Water...Your Light...endued

I read this a couple of times, Joyce. the village concept, or per say the church home, of help and guidance is such a need (I am not referring to a socialistic thing either) a spiritual level, a community level.....That's how I read it anyway. Morgan
