He did not lie...He never promised us a 'rose garden' but He did promise to never leave us alone. Blesu

Poem Artwork

…Shall we go on?

...came…His…tender inquiry

She didn’t answer...intent on remaining

in the shadowed dregs of her brokenness

And He allowed her to do so…

because He loved her…

and understood

So, He waited…

while she bewailed the unfairness of the times,

the cruelty of acts oppressive, the heaviness...

of it all!  …He waited…as

She delved further into her complaints…even…

pointing a finger at Him…yet, He waited…

and never…

not for a moment…did He leave her side

Then, somewhere, in the interim’s timelessness…

her angst and sobs subsided…

She lifted her eyes, acknowledged His Presence…

and reached…

for His outstretched Hand

From Him…flowed…renewed Faith and Strength

…she smiled…

           And…They Went On

Ps 142:2, Is 30:18, 2Corn 12:9-10, Heb 4:15

Joyce, this is a powerful poem! It is so real, telling the struggles, the invitation, the refusal, the open hand of forgiveness, the surrender and forgiveness and the changing of a woman's life. You are a wonderful author!
May I use this one in my Poetry Corner?

Love,
Connie

Ron had a fine comment of this one, Joyce. I don't know what he is referring to, but I do agree that your words are always inspiring. Many have suffered the themes you explore in this poem and can appreciate your positive, uplifting resolution and faith.

I believe the "she" you refer to in this poem is you. In a way I'm glad you found something to cling to so that you can overcome all of those terrible things that others have done to you and remain strong enough to write beautiful words to share.
