The Promise

One day a daughter

And, her elderly parents

Ventured upon a fork in the road.

One was a yellow brick road,

Lined with beautiful flowers, and

A rainbow at the end.

The other was graveled and dark,

Lined with death, and

She saw no rainbow at the end.

The daughter fearful

Of making the wrong choice

Turned to her parents for help.

“It’s time to let us go,” they said.

“We know which path to take, but

The Lord wants’ you to help us.”

She then turned to her Lord for help.

His words so clear and serene…

“Your heart will make the right choice.”

Her journey down the dark road

Was long and treacherous

Falling, bruised and torn…

She cried out to her Lord for help.

Because of the love in your heart…

“Promise them eternity, and

A rainbow in the end.”
