This is a poem about significant things to my life that have happened in July
July
July 2nd twice, July 4th thrice,
July 5th, July 13th, July 30th.
Key dates for me and mine (maybe more).
July 2nd Twelve "clocks strike at once."
A Resolution to be free is passed. A new
nation was concieved or was it conceived...
July 4th The conception of a nation and
the conception of me.
I saw those hazel eyes as the guitars
gently purred and friends sweetly crooned.
July 5th Under the mimicked "rockets' red
glare," and farcical "bombs bursting in
air" we laughed and bonded.
July 13th Two years and eight days after
that magical 5th a simple test announces
the coming of child.
July 30th A year and twenty-five days
after the 5th and seventeen days short of a
year before the 13th she and I became one
for eternity.
