When I was small and attended school,
Sometimes I felt a right young fool.
Mathematics was for me a closed book,
Nothing it seems could get me off the hook.
It didn’t matter how often I tried,
There was no place for me to hide.
I could never grasp algebra at all,
Pythagoras always brought me to fall.
Geography I loved my imagination was great,
English lessons I was in a delirious state.
Physics and chemistry interested me no end,
Mathematics sent me right around the bend.
Questions I asked right through the day,
I listened carefully to what teacher had to say.
But mathematics was just not my thing,
To history my ears did nothing but cling.
I was a good scholar I am glad to say,
Except when mathematics came my way.
