Love is our best face,
Let us proudly face life as we love powerfully.
I was in pain, deeply wounded and afraid;
I asked them to share my agony with me.
But they did not listen, they did not care;
I was invisible to them.
It was as if they had no eyes to see my tears, no ears to hear my cry and no heart to feel my pain.
I was desperate, screaming, "Love me! Love me!"
But nobody did.
Then I took off my mask and ceased masquerading,
And I saw, I really saw, my brothers an my sisters and they did not turn away.
With a touch of grace they reached out and down and with love lifted me up out of despair;
They restored my hope and faith in humankind.
Now I am able to give love and receive love;
I feel whole again.
Unmasked, visible and unafraid I forge ahead;
My journey has never been so sweet as it is now.
Thank you brothers and sisters for your love that awakened me to authenticity.
No longer am I screaming, "Love me! Love me!"
Now I am going about the business of looking for somebody to love with the awareness that love returns better than it was before it was given away.
After I unmasked I discovered that love was always present and as close to me as my breathing, but with masked love I could not see beyond the mask;
I could only experience pain and be afraid.
