If I Could

If I could ease a troubled mind
And put each rain cloud far behind
I'de lay bright sunshine at your door
And give you rainbows evermore

If I could write with a Midas Touch
All letters penned might mean so much
The ink within would ne'er grow old
Each word arranged in solid gold

If I could make one little child
Change his frown into a smile
Undoubtedly I'de take his grief
This is truly my belief

If I could have a final say
In every path of disarray
All misdeeds be cast aside
To give life back a sense of pride

If I could leave a part of me
In some outstanding eulogy
One piece for all the world to see
That told of my ability

If I could only find a niche
To pull this off without a glitch
Tomorrow being as it should
The best of all
If I could

Paul,
These stanzas capture good reasons to write. I like the sentiments in general and I wish more people felt this way. Nicely done! Love and Hugs,

Paul you just accomplished your goal in my eyesight with this powerful piece of work. I think you just explained in poetic fashion all of our dreams and wishes to help others. Great write, perfectly rhymed and very well expressed. G

"If I could make one little child

...Sigh... I have two boys, both came home injured from school today, and even as I write, one is crying out in pain in his sleep...

This weary Mother, thanks you for a timely encouraging word...

Funny... in an indirect way, with an exhortation to persevere in compassion, you did just achieve the above - you just didn't get to see it!
