Beware the words of poets -- even own.
Wraith-wrapped and shadow-wracked they spew the spawn
Of human thoughts, whose darkest fears, unknown
Or not, crescendos out like tortured pawns
In chancy games of self-acclaim. Beware
The nights of aging fears when poets cry,
As dreams recede beyond the need to care,
So stopping flow of questions asking why.
Where safe in mind can poet go? Too late
Debate of right or wrong, blood eyes that dwell
In passion’s cell negate sad errored fate
While feeding self-aimed hate... So now, farewell.
Ware wisdom’s words when wisdom speaks aloud,
Lest words-of-self engulf you in their shroud.
