Wring Me Wry

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Saturday, April 17, 2004

Wring me wry,
wait, too late,
wryness dries,
and conjugates.

Pierce my eye,
hide your hate,
eyes decry
and desecrate.

Price my cry,
laugh, then bait,
cries berate,
and congregate.

Fling me, fly!
Weight of fate…
flies too straight,
and procreates.

Did you think I could ignore this title, petunia, you? I think not! Sigh.. I read this 3 times and 3 times had something new to think. I will confess openly, that last verse, punctuation and all, had very different meanings for me... in fact, governed what I took from the entire piece, as I went back and read down again. "flies" as in insects.. "flies" as in taking to the air.. "flies" is also an anagram for "lifes".. hmmmmm... you have a clever mind, a poetic heart and a beautifully human soul, dear one... all those things shine in this multi-layered work. (The title is perfect, any which way I go with this! Yep) love, katy xox.
