I greet you, Dawn! Splendor in your pale light,
unfaded by dismay. You bring comfort
from fright, release from cold, star-darkened night,
unjaded and fresh in how you comport.
For, see you skies? There are stars that earthly thrive,
and give, for a short time. Entwined within
lacey cage, fern unfolds its grace, alive,
each tiny star aglow, flowered to win.
And, crowned with rooted strength, nova centered
suns thrust star-tipped stamens, unadorned by
blight, into fragile sight, nature-mentored,
teaching slighted minds to seek, and reach high.
What say you, Dawn, in your birth? Is it girth
that creates stars, or is it in their worth?
