Entering Tunnel’s Path: A Dream

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Friday, August 20, 2004

An eagle held me gentle; spread-legged, tamed.
Held me tight. I didn’t feel any wrath,
more like excited calm. A viper came,
with smiling lips, and entered tunnel’s path.

I felt the curl of snake in my womb, felt
the delicate prick of teeth; then sucking,
slow and long. I felt an exchange, a veldt
of red – I felt I was dead. It struck me,

like a vision. I saw a bear appear,
just as snake shivered out; bear ate snake down,
and eagle lashed out -- at me -- licked my tear,
and dove into bear. At last I had found

a dream’s mission. Combined by fate; bear, snake
eagle and me have the world to awake!

I love dream poems, Erin, and this one of yours is superb. You are a natural poet with brilliant talent.

This is as realistic as surreal; as symbolistical as impressionistic.
It is food for a hungry mind to digest. It is intriguing and inspiring, its mystery in behind, but the esoteric can be deciphered.

"Entering Tunnel’s Path: A Dream" is a literary Jewel that shines like Sirius.

Author-Poet Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen, I salute You, Sublime Poet!

Thank You for posting "Entering Tunnel’s Path: A Dream", and for showing the world HOW THE GREATNESS OF OUR COUNTRY SHINES!

My reverent gratitude and admiration.

Boy are your dreams different than my crazy ones...at least yours involve Nature, but you know how it is sleeping after 420pm, the mind plays crazy tricks on us...a quite beautiful dream recaptured by your pen, Erin...enjoyed, Peace, Ed & Rufuz
