When Will It End?

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Tuesday, August 31, 2004

What’s it all for?
The awareness’, realizations,
the epiphanies – the mind traveling?

It doesn’t feel so good to know
I’ll be searching for that answer
through eternity. Or that poltergeists,
incubus, malevolent spirits
and ‘Jodi’s’* are actualities.
Or that fiction isn’t always fictitious.
And truths can be worse.

It doesn’t feel so good to know,
where ever my essence goes,
as I continue after I leave Earth,
it will still be fraught
with uncertainties and inner conflicts.

When will it end?

I can’t help but weep at losing
an innocence I didn’t know I had…

What’s it all for?

*Jodi was the name for the pig-shaped evil entity in the book, 'The Amityville Horror'. Purported to be a true story.

questions without answers, that's why there are poets!

Interesting question, Erin. And I agree with Andre: none of us have an answer to it. I liked your summation. It is poignant, and sad. And I'd like to add that I think there is still a lot of innocence left in us -- many, many discoveries yet to be made before we call it a night. :-)

"When Will It End?" - is a striking poem!

If knew the answer, probably I would be retrieved from this atmosphere, before I could respond to "When Will It End?"

This is a jewel shining Sirius light.

It is a benison to know that in the century of Poetry's Revelation, I live to witness the brilliance of minds like Yours, Sublime Poet Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen.

Sometimes the mysteries of life can be pretty scary/depressing. This is a great write! A question I think we all ask several times within our lifetimes.
