Eternity-Last

I strained to see through obscurity,
looked at reality with conventional eyes;
and the only absolute I’ve uncovered
is everyone’s body dies.
What comes next? That’s anyone’s guess.
And maybe that is the key, since
everybody’s reality is seen differently.
Why can’t Beyond be what we dream it to be?
I tried to push Time’s hands aside,
divining I needed what was behind
the curtain of my life; I saw nothing.
Not because it wasn’t. Because it was everything.
To free our best we have to see how found
spirituality is deeper than body’s blood.
We are alive in the Now, the Future, and the Past;
if we don’t kill our spirits -- we will Eternity-last.
