Yielding Lady

She stands alone in her moody dreaming,
reflecting, shadow-needs fall with night’s rain.
She sees her soul complacently darkening
as it tries to refocus inner pain.
She stands alone within patterned sunshine,
rejecting its bright light, and turns away,
seeking mind’s cloak, refusing perfumed signs
of integrity. Hope has gone astray.
She stands alone within prisons of thought,
inspecting bitter regrets without fuss.
Why care about futures, about life bought
with selfishness? It’s not such a big loss.
She stands, alone, weary, battered and sore,
just another sorry, life sucking whore.
