Pulsating Moon

I saw the most amazing sight, last night.
Peekaboo blue skies and gray clouds high
had washed clean the mountain air.
The day was waned, time was slumbering down,
trying to stand still… A dog began barking,
I went out front to see why,
and the Fall night captured me.
I saw an almost full moon riding
night’s black heights. Low slung,
a line of billowing left-over clouds
were lit from above, by sun’s reflected light,
coalesced into dark brilliance.
I sat on a chair, and watched the moon,
watched the clouds thickening
and swifting towards the mountains.
I saw rays expanding from the moon,
and knew why. The lenses of my glasses,
my favorite pair, are scratched.
So I took them off, looked at the moon,
and gasped, startled. It was breathing!
There was no ‘Man in the Moon’, just
a lighted center with a fluctuating rim,
flickering with blueness and off-white,
elliptical in shape, and, it pulsated,
like it was alive. I tried to calm
my heartbeat, thinking my pulse
was creating an illusion, a sleight-of-mind.
I kept putting my glasses on, seeing
a round, defined moon with a shadowed face.
Then taking them off, seeing a living entity
which knew its inner soul would always be
overlooked by strictured human sight…
Tonight, Moon bled its cosmic sighs
into my eyes, as it was eclipsed, once again.

There is more than one way of looking at the moon.
When it pulsates, isn't it somehow closer to us?

Intriguing thoughts, indeed, Erin. I sat watching the orange moon last night myself, and it truly was an awesome sight.
