Conveniently Forgot?

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Tuesday, December 21, 2004

Under the spirited holiday lights,
under the good will and frantic baking,
under the gaily decorated tree, and under my skin,
uncertainty still ravens and rips at thoughts….

Is there any point, anymore, to celebrating
grasped-upon holidays, preempted religions days,
when over-accompanied by asinine commercialism?
Is there any way to explain our fixed beliefs
could be skewed? Is there a way to clarify our past,
as Humanity is nothing but what we want to see,
and everything we choose to ignore?

I believe Mankind is losing itself,
traveling away from creation’s respect
for bio-commonality. After all, we’ve been
murdering each other for eons, raping our planet,
smothering our inner sight.

To what end? Over six billion people, and a plan
gone awry. No wonder we blame each other;
no Gods reside upon the earth, no audience given,
no questions asked of, and answered, by any
known or proclaimed Godhead.

Do you think we conveniently forgot?
Or were stricken by mind-wiping sickness?
Did you ever feel our real Fathers came,
not from the dust of a tiny speck in this solar system,
but, from the stars, and beyond? Have we become
marooned, lost? Have we made do
with where we stopped?

Perhaps, in the beginning, we tried harder
to maintain harmony. Then, became obversely
proprietary, forgetting fraternity in our earthy
lusts and wants. And, so, we were formed by
ourselves, disgracing cosmic origins, pitting
God against god against Man against man.

Above the manufactured colored lights,
above the greed and ‘free will’s’ clever taking,
above the baldly generated bonhomie, and in my flesh,
certainty fills my mind, and raptures thoughts…

"Conveniently Forgot?" voices wise questions, and shows what is behind the stage of this planet.

The fourth stanza says it clearly; the sixth stanza does depict the whole story and concepts of leadership; but it is in the fifth stanza that I found all the answers, inclusive for its questions.

This poem must be studied for its contents and messages. "Conveniently Forgot?" is a teleological and ontological poetic writing with the essence of Poetry.

From your pen to the world, dear Erin... if only! Wake-up calls reach ears that are listening, not just hearing... and here, now, I'm all ears!

An eternal optimist, I believe one person DOES make a difference so here's the plan: you tell them what's what, then send them to me and I'll grin at them until they get the picture! How's that?

Not one human being since the world began was killed to benefit God or his wishes. Not one! Let's get this thing turned around.... you with me? Alright... love, katy xox.

Love the way you question and then affirm something deep inside of your spirit, Erin.

I wish you all the best,

Erin,

Extremely powerful and truthful write. I know I hate seeing my children and grandchildren growing up in a world like this. If not for any other reason I can at least try to make it a little better for them. Happy Holiday to you and yours.

Erin, an excellent philosophical rant against man's total disregard for the true meaning of life, from the point of view of how commercial our worlds holidays have become...unless of course I am mistaken in my view and therefore I do retract...LOL! Ed
