Running free 'cross plains of mind,
Time slows down and glides right by.
Sun warmth shivers deep inside,
Blinding eyes to what there hides.
Barbed wire.
Crashing swift with slowed down sight,
Time – speeds up and soul-flesh sliced.
Sun bleeds heat that turns to fright,
Pleading eyes lose their sight…
To barbed wire.
Stumbling lost through cacti spines,
Time exists without clock-signs.
Sun bursts fire – then swoops to dine.
Dulling eyes last view is lines…
Of barbed wire.

If a reader simply responds with the physical senses in your piece, my overwhelming poet-friend, they will find satisfaction, something to relate to... BUT... if a reader unhooks the mind to absorb what lurks beneath your surface, they will startle at the bold truth of this.
This builds to a crescendo with the real, then blending with the surreal as it goes... even the repetition, brilliantly effective, with subtle growth, reveals the piece, moving the reader to a stark, personal clarity "of barbed wire."
Sometimes, sweetie pie, you just plain collapse me! Sigh.. katy xox.
Thank You for posting "Barbed Wire Crisis".
