She Wants To Kill Reality

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Friday, February 4, 2005

She wants to kill reality,
shoot it down and set it free,
bound by gods’ unlovely hands;
pull the trigger, set it free.

She wants to live her fantasies,
shoot them up with needle's fee,
freed by man’s unlovely hand;
push the plunger, needle's fee.

She cannot find eternity,
higher planes deny her pleas,
trapped by mind's unlovely lands;
pained with love, deny her pleas.

I have to agree with the rest. Be careful somethings shoot back.

Great job, Erin. Hope this isn't the voice of experience, but the voice of observation, although I believe we've all felt that overwhelming desire for freedom at some point.

And the knowledge that freedom lies only in her desires make watching this unbearable. One is constantly desirious of light.

Ah, sure, sounds to me like "she" is bound and determined to make the very same mistake that millions of others have made throughout history. Let us just hope that "she" makes it through the maelstrom intact.
