The Origin Of The Circle

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Saturday, February 19, 2005

In ancient life, in primitive cycle,
Empyrean was still visible; how
Did we fall so low as to expose gall
Of humanistic hypocrisy? Bow,

All, to We. I had a dream, while thinking,
On religion, juxtapositioned. I
Saw opposites. I imagined shrinking
Mankind into a handful. The old lies

Of Time created billions of gods,
Man-gods, wannabes of cloned quintessence,
Bar-coded and heart-cold to sad eons
Of estrangement. I didn’t weep, no sense

In applying mortality to Man,
Because, I see, now, false gods are common.

Thoughtfully expressed, Erin. We each carry "god" within us; and yes, humans do invent so many things...
Much enjoyed this creative piece.

A deep and penetrating write Erin. False gods abound in the dark recesses of this earth where they eventually die.

Too many there are,
Both near and afar,
That would work, a coded bar,
We need to know where they do exist,
Maybe the nearest star...?

You do stretch the window Erin and always leave
your mark;-) Excellent deduction. only one Creator
but many gods both chosen and sham....

And how to tell the difference? I like that bar-code idea.

This is a good write and we in the Indian culture often say draw a circle and draw him in.

Great write Erin! I have been thinking a lot,
probably too much about the "programs"
that have been handed down!

It's always good to read your work!
