I had the strangest experience, the other day,
Before long sought sleep entered my dreams.
The room was dark, wombed by blanketed windows,
Some workers have to sleep days; it’s the mining way.
I was drifting aimlessly on thoughts, and felt
A coating, like Teflon, formulate inside my mouth, forging
An individual wrap on each tooth. I smelled
‘Mechanics’, or ‘processing’, upon my breaths scent.
I didn’t dare shift my jaw, knowing the movement
Would feel squeaky, rubberized and melded.
The Teflon spread into my head and body, gently,
Exquisitely, like a skintight glove.
Eerily, I felt myself enclosed, enveloped,
Indestructible, with containment of my soul’s energy.
I felt like Paul Atreides in Frank Herbert’s
“Dune,” when sand worms covered him, toe to head.
I lay there in faint alarm, wondering what to do,
I seem to be recrafted, into – a spaceship! Damn!
I felt like a spaceship! Cosmically protected
By my genesis-based skin of potential…
I didn’t move, or open my eyes, enjoying
The awareness of being able to fly into eternity,
Seeing I would wear many forms and shapes.
And, as the spaceship peeled away, I smiled.
