The Matriarch was wary, the air, still.
Morning sun shone rainbows and brightly jeweled
Her castle, where treasured brood, her life’s will
To continue, lie, color-encapsuled.
Gone were the days of harmonic living,
Gone were friends of structured, fantastic forms,
Gone was brotherhood, and she was tired. Ringed
By containment, roots buried deep, the harm
To her core’s essence withered any need
To care about future-not-her-own. “Yet..”
She thought, as defining breezes brought seeds
Of strength to wearied mind. “What I beget,”
Will repopulate the world, I am Door!”
Revitalized by love, SnapDragon roared.

Love Tinka
I love snapdragons. We used to have bunches of them in Ohio...you've brought back many pleasant memories of me playing with them--squeezing their "cheeks" so they roared LOL
Beautiful poem!
