Reverence is Irrelevant

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Friday, August 12, 2005

Take away forms of reverence
from earthy planes,
there is no place,
no relevance to worshipping
gods of irrelevance.
What is relative to human beings
is Life, not life after death.

Take away my pain, I am
irrelevant to relativity,
future abstained from reverence.

Take from me these chains
of irrelevance, I am relative
to planes of planet’s relevance.

Take away frames of reverence
from the godhead planes,
there is no space,
no relevance, to purchasing
humanity’s irrelevance.
What is relative to being human
is life-today, not Life after death.

Take away Our pain, We are
irrelevant to relativity,
past obtained through reverence.

Take from Us these chains
of irrelevance, We are relative
to planes of world-relevance.

Take away frieze of reverence
from the spatial planes,
there is no pace
to relevance, to obtaining
unreality’s irrelevance.
What is relative to entity-being
is Life-Now, not life after Death.

Erin, once again, as usual, you’ve compelled your readers to think outside the box, which is what poetry is all about. Never mind what the Scholars believe one should do or say, it’s what you’re feeling inside as you stroke the canvas of life with your “golden quill,” my gifted friend, that really counts in the end. I have always tried to live by the phrase, “either get busy living or get busy dying.” On a final note, I’d also like to mention that one must always live life as though today was ones last one, for in order to move beyond the constraints of ones relevance in the world today, one must need to remain focused to continue ones journey after the “mortal” flesh can no longer support itself. An excellent job, Poet. Thank you for sharing it. Take good care and be well.

EEKM,

And thus she takes her place among that echelon of great thinkers. Watch out for arsenic in your tea. When the truth is found, you'll find, you become dangerous. You continue to write my mind....

Peace,

Some of the lines have good sonical feel, while others give a jarring tone...perfect for such a poem! Poem begins with a plural view, and then seems to be a first person POV, but then it mutates into a more generic symbol...the narrator is sort of omniscient, talking about the ephemerality of life! You could have tried a smoother detour to transmute singular "I's" to plural "Us"...The anaphora, is reinforcing the atmosphere for the first few strophes, but it degenerates once your narrator leaves it (like as in S4)! That particular strophe has a lot of "ether drag", some delicious abstract images...but then you may lose your reader! I will call this a neoromantic poem, for the ambience of self pity and regret it dispenses! Overall an excellent poem...

It's in the relativity of now that we prepare for life after death that cannot be ignored or treated with irreverence.

Powerful message! I wonder often why so many people seem more concerned with death than life, and you've posed the appropriate questions to go with my wondering.
