I am Stubborn Man, watch me dig in my
Heels, watch me weep and wail, watch me destroy
Myself… I am Stubborn Man. In my eyes
What I see I keep. I’m not an envoy
To any but myself. I am not my
Brother’s keeper, or its warder, I am
Stubborn Man, borne to be grand. You sigh
With ineptitude of rectitude. Damn
Your pity, your superiority!
Damn your mind… Powered with compassionate
Sight, you make me want to hide. I’m not She
Of many understandings -- please, don’t bet
On me… I am Stubborn Man – take my hand
And set me free from myself – Stubborn Man.
