Ego Versus Id

I felt my ego take another blow,
I felt anguish, loss of relationship.
I haunted my soul to find the why. Go
Deeper, I heard, as my flagellate whipped
Itself into bound freedom. That doesn’t
Make sense, I told myself, if I am free,
How can I be bound? Ego, let me count the
Ways… I hate be the one who sees – me.
Ego versus Id. One is Self, one is
All. The imperfect conundrum of life,
Of living, of eternal ponderings
Of cognizant before-knowledge. Of strife
Between Ego and Id, God and Devil,
Pro and con, loved or not, good and evil.
Juxtapositioned, and will-enabled…
