Forgive Me…

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Tuesday, November 15, 2005

Forgive me, Creator,
For I am sin.
I can’t find my way out
Of the hell my mind’s in.
I understand
With imperfect grace,
Love rules all,
That Love is Your Face.

Forgive me, my Painter,
For I have sinned.
I’ve changed the palette
You colored me with.
I understand,
With imperfect grace,
Hue guides all,
That Hue is Your face.

Forgive me, my Mother,
For all my sins.
My growth was slowed
By inner war’s din.
I understand,
With imperfect grace,
Existence is in
The Light of your Face.

I think you are recovering. Weird word, that, since it's really a process of re-exposing, which you do briliantly in these brief lines. Yet truth is brief.

Forgiveness is the one pure thing. Everything else I've ever learned from Christianity pales next to that one shining truth.

Wishing you peace abounding, with just enough poetic turmoil to keep the words flowing like blood from the ever-healing wound. Or, to put it more crudely, Erin ... just keep on rocking!

And thanks for this.

Forgiveness is the foundation of Love
and the light is gentle to the soul.

The naked humility in these lines fill them with a great deal of healing power and powerful beauty. They may confess to the imperfection of what it means to be human but they also pay tribute to what it means to "know thyself." And particularly what it means to thyself in relation to one's sense of the Divine. Thanks for sharing.

There is no forgiveness for you Erin, as you do not require same, as everything I read from you is far and above, almost, the creator him/herself...Ed

I know many will disagree because of the simple philosophy in the poem here, Erin, but beautiful poem. We all struggle and there's no sin in admitting we need mercy or grace, sometimes we simply need to forgive ourselves and sometimes we need to recognize we're wasting what the Creator has given us and for that we do need forgiveness. There's no joy like that we feel when in unity with the One. ~~Nordette
