Ashes

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Nothing here
But ashes…

I would,
Otherwise,
If I could,

As an ash,

Rediscovered,
Be an ash

Uncovered…

Short but a mouthfull. Gives the mind something to ponder on. My mind needed this short break. Thanks for sharing.

you turn a phrase like nobody does, in such an easy way one almost forgets the gravity of what it is you say... until it chases after you and pins you down flat, that is. great work. Dawn

Feeling there is no hope yet hoping against hope there is hope? If so, been there. Powerful in it's brevity...

Erin:

This poem is very deep! If I were correct, you could be feeling and worrying about your mother's feelings. I, too, from time to time, looked at my parents' urns, wondering how they're feeling. Will they be forgotten? Obviously...not to me anyway.

Seems to me that their deaths hit me the hardest amongst all of my siblings. Sometimes, I get angry that they don't seem to care much...but that is just my own humble opinion.

Hope I was right about this, and If I'm wrong in my comments, then I do apologize for it being inappropriate.

A thought-provoking write with deep feelings.

Cleverly cryptic, Erin...you leave the reader with a bit of mystery to ponder.
Take care,
